1. Overview

AiGo ("AiGo", "we", "us", "our") operates the AiGo mobile app and related services (the "Service"), a taxi-booking platform serving passengers and drivers in Sri Lanka. This policy explains what information we collect through the app and admin systems, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using AiGo, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. See also our Terms & Conditions.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, and information generated as you use the Service.

Account information (all users)

  • Phone number — required to sign in. AiGo uses phone + one-time passcode (OTP) as the only sign-in method; we don't use passwords.
  • Full name — required when you first register.
  • Email address — optional.
  • Profile photo — a photo and an auto-generated thumbnail, stored so other users can recognize you (e.g. a passenger recognizing their driver). A real photo is required before switching to driver mode.
  • Emergency contact name and phone — optional, provided at your discretion.
  • App preferences — language and display settings.

Driver information (driver role only)

  • Driving license — license number and a photo of your license, reviewed by an AiGo admin before you can go online and accept bookings.
  • Additional documents — e.g. insurance or vehicle registration, if requested for verification.
  • Vehicle details — plate number, model, colour, vehicle type, photos, and any amenity tags you choose to declare (e.g. air-conditioned, EV, wheelchair accessible, pet friendly, child seat, female driver). These tags are self-declared by the driver and are not independently verified by AiGo.
  • Verification status — whether an admin has approved your account and documents to accept bookings.

Trip and booking information

  • Pickup and destination locations (coordinates and, where available, addresses) for each booking.
  • Booking status and timestamps — requested, accepted, driver arrived, trip started, trip completed or cancelled, and cancellation reason if provided.
  • Trip distance and duration.
  • Ratings and written reviews you give or receive after a trip.
  • Reports filed about a trip or another user, including the reason and any description provided.
  • Drivers or vehicles you've saved as favourites.

Device and notification information

  • A device push-notification token (used to deliver booking updates), and whether your device is iOS or Android.
  • A history of the notifications AiGo has sent you and whether you've read them.

Communications

If you contact AiGo support (e.g. by email or the in-app report feature), we keep a record of that correspondence to respond to you and improve the Service.

3. Location data

AiGo's core feature — seeing nearby taxis on a map — depends on location data. Specifically:

  • Drivers: while online (available to accept bookings), your device periodically reports your GPS position, heading, and speed. This is how passengers see you on the map and how your live location is shown during an active trip. Your location is not shared while you're offline.
  • Passengers: your device shares your location (or a pin you drop manually) to find nearby taxis and to set your pickup point — this is used for the search itself and isn't continuously tracked in the background.
  • Pickup and destination coordinates for a specific booking are visible to the passenger and driver involved in that booking, and to AiGo admins for support and safety review.

4. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account, and verify it's really you via OTP.
  • To operate the core booking flow — showing nearby available taxis, connecting passengers with drivers, and tracking a trip in progress.
  • To verify driver identity, licenses, and vehicles before allowing a driver to accept bookings.
  • To send booking-related notifications (e.g. a driver accepted your request, your driver has arrived).
  • To let passengers and drivers rate each other and to review reports of misconduct.
  • To provide customer support and respond to questions or complaints.
  • To maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Service (for example, reviewing reported trips).

AiGo does not use your information for third-party advertising, and does not sell your personal information.

5. How information is shared

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

  • Between passengers and drivers: when you book (or accept a booking), the other party sees your name, profile photo, phone number, and, for drivers, vehicle details and rating — the same way it would work if you'd flagged down a taxi in person.
  • Service providers: we use trusted third parties to operate AiGo:
    • Cloud storage (Amazon Web Services, S3) — hosts profile photos, vehicle photos, and driver documents.
    • SMS delivery (SMSLenz / SOFTLENZ (PVT) LTD) — sends the one-time passcode (OTP) text used to sign in; your phone number and the code are shared with this provider solely to deliver that message.
    • Push notification delivery (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — delivers booking alerts to your device.
  • AiGo admins: a small number of authorised administrators can view account, trip, and document information to verify drivers, review reports, and provide support.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of AiGo, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: if AiGo is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

6. Payments

AiGo does not process payments and does not calculate fares. Drivers use their vehicle's own meter, and passengers pay the driver directly at the end of the trip, exactly as with a traditional taxi. AiGo never collects or stores payment card details or handles money on your behalf.

7. Data retention

We keep account and trip information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, and safety obligations (for example, retaining trip and report records long enough to investigate a safety complaint). One-time passcodes are short-lived and expire minutes after being issued. If you delete your account, we deactivate it and stop using your data for the Service going forward; some records may be retained where necessary for the reasons above.

8. Your rights and choices

  • Access and update: you can view and edit most of your profile information directly in the app.
  • Delete your account: you can delete your account from within the app at any time. This deactivates your account and revokes your active sessions.
  • Notifications: booking-related notifications are core to the Service; you can control device-level push permissions from your phone's settings.
  • Sri Lankan data protection rights: if the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 applies to you, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or request erasure of your personal data. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.

9. Children's privacy

AiGo is not directed at children, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service (driving requires a valid licence, which carries its own minimum age under Sri Lankan law). We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed storage of authentication codes and session tokens, and access controls limiting who can view sensitive data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

11. Where your data is stored

AiGo's servers and database are hosted in Sri Lanka; media files (photos and documents) are stored with our cloud storage provider in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region. Your information may therefore be processed in a different location than where you're based.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of AiGo after a change means you accept the updated policy.
